The purpose of this article was to describe a continuing education program conducted through the cooperation of industry and academia. In order to increase professional nursing knowledge and skills in critical care nursing, and to improve the quality of care, National Tainan Institute of Nursing worked in cooperation with Tainan Municipal Hospital to administrate this program. The educational program, “100 hours of courses and 5 days of practicum” was carried out from 2006/7/26 to 2006/9/6. The seventy-five participants involved in this program were made up of teachers, senior students and staff. Forty-seven participants completed the program and received certificates from the Taiwan Association of Critical Care Nursing. During the training program, two-stages of evaluations & exams, and practicum evaluation were conducted. The evaluation results show that participants expressed a high level of satisfaction with this program. They received a great deal of benefit from the equipment support at school and hospital units. The project is expected to continue in the future. Nursing administers may apply this model to work on continuing education programs. To use school resources and cultivate seed teachers that create double win effects in the areas of academia and enterprise. |
