Permanent catheter related infections with antibiotics resistance in hemodialysis patients are troublesome. Bilofilm coating is the major problem. The bacteria can not be eradicated by sensitive antibiotics due to biofilm. Removal of the catheter and replacement with a new one is always recommended. This in-vitro study examined the permanent catheter, which was clinically suspected with biofilm coating, with increasing the antibiotics immersion concentration and time. The result of this study showed, even with high concentration of antibiotics and 48 hours of immersion time, the bacteria still could not be eliminated. Giving the antibiotics Preor intra- dialysis is ineffective in the above situation. |
