To assess personal knowledge and behavior in diabetics who participated in Diabetes Shared Project or not, two patient populations were recruited in this investigation: 1) participants of a Diabetes Shared Care Project (group 1, n = 37). 2) non-participants of the project (group 2, n = 26). All patients were from the Endocrine and Metabolism Clinic of one regional hospital in central Taiwan. In group 1, HbA1C, health behavior, learning behavior, daily care, exercise and diet habits significantly improved when compared with group 2 (P < 0.05). Of note, HbA1C in group 1 was 7.73 ± 1.59% significantly lower, compared with 9.47 ± 1.79% in group 2 (P < 0.001). The patients who participated in Diabetes Shared Care Project had better sense in achieving better diabetes control. It showed the beneficial effects in those participants of the Diabetic Shared Care Project in this regional hospital. |
