This study explored the positive linear relationships among resilience, Chinese language ability, and work adjustment for young female immigrants from Vietnam and Thailand by using structural equation model. Totally 270 questionnaires were distributed to female immigrants in southern Taiwan. The valid questionnaires are 226, while all respondents have working experience in Taiwan and most of the valid respondents are younger than 42. The results showed that: 1. For the female immigrants of both nationalities, their Chinese language ability and resilience have positive linear relationship with their work adjustment. 2. Our respondents generally own positive psychological traits such as independence, fortitude, submissiveness, emotional control, fault management, and sense of unity in family. Generally speaking, our respondents who have higher education background have higher performance in Chinese language ability, resilience, and work adjustment. The longer working experience those female immigrants who keep permanent job has, the better their resilience and work adjustment. Therefore, Chinese language ability, resilience and “education and learning” are the most effective ways to enhance the overall capacity for female immigrants. 3. Female immigrants most need and must build their resilience as follows. Firstly, with regard to family, they could work with family to overcome adversities and to obtain happiness. Secondly, as for emotional control, their negative emotions could be controlled effectively once their opinions are adopted by others. Thirdly, as far as error management is concerned, they could take the difficulties in their life as an opportunity to learn and grow-up. Lastly, as for social support, they could acquire support and help from family and friends, and also maintain good relationships with friends. |
