To efficiently capture the information of market and adapt to the strategies of enterprises can help shorten the time to market of new products and decrease the uncertainties resulted in the Fuzzy Front End (FEE), the early stage of product development. However, traditional product development usually employs the interior available resources only, and thus restricts the R&D capabilities of enterprises. The emerging concept of Open Innovation is devoted to release the boundaries of enterprises, and integrate both the interior and exterior resources for research and development. Under such manner, not only more resources are available in the FFE, but also more efficient R&D strategies can be delivered. This research attempts to employ the concept of system thinking to construct an open innovation model, in order to leverage the decision qualities of FFE. With the proposed model, not only the decision maker’ strategic thinking of open innovation FFE, but also the casual feedback model in each new product R&D cycle can be represented. Thus, the new R&D directions of highly competitive advantage products would be efficiently generated right after the initial stage of innovation concepts emerge. |
