A STUDY ON THE CULTURE AND TRIBE OF HUEI－MAI

在今天來探究一個古代民族，那是一件難事；文化，就更難些。主要是：我們對於發掘和調查的工作，尚沒有做到理想的地步；一般史籍的記載，又多含混其辭，甚至有些假話。從古史的荒原上拔除一些野草藤蔓，已經不太容易辦得到，培植花木就更見其艱難了。

The tribe of Huei－mai（濊貊）was quite an old tribe in the history of China. It was a large tribe too. If the records of the Book of Odes（詩經）about the tribe were credible，it should have almost existed in the Chinese territory in the ninth century before Christ.
