The main focus of this study is to investigate the influence of power conditions and power structure on inter-departmental decision making in an organization. We adopted both experimental design and questionnaire survey to achieve higher credibility and validity. The results of our experimental design showed that power structure has significantly influences on strategic performance. Specifically, The more power the department owned, the better the performance satisfaction it revealed. The more turf oriented the department is, the lower the performance satisfaction it reveled. Finally, the higher positive negotiation pattern the department adopted, the better the performance satisfaction resulted. The results of the questionnaire survey have shown that the concept of social open system was supported. Based on the interdependence of resources among functional departments, most of our propositions have significantly been supported by empirical data. This study finally used LISREL to validate the validity of our research framework and to investigate the inter-relationships among research variables. The results showed that the general framework fits well. |
