Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects on hepatic parameters and muscular strength in chronic hepatitis B patients after a 8 weeks resistance training. Method: There were twenty subjects participated in this study. They were randomly assigned to two groups: 1) Resistance training group (RT, age =22.2 ±1.72 yrs): 15RM, 8 exercises, 3 sets, 3 d∙ wk-1; and 2) Control group (C, age =24.4 ±4.48 yrs). Blood samples were drawn from the subjects before training (T1), after 4-week of training (T2), after 8-week of training (T3), and 4-week of detraining (T4). Muscular strength values were examined at T1, T3, and T4. Hepatic parameters were diagnosed by normal range and muscular strength values were analyzed by repeated design one-way ANOVA. Result: 1) All hepatic parameters were within normal range for T1, T2, T3 and T4 in both groups. The values of AST and ALT in RT were more stable than in C. 2) Maximal muscular strength of all exercises raised significantly at T3. Bench press, leg extension, and lat pulldown were reduced at T4 when compared with T3. Conclusion: Resistance training can improve muscular strength and also good for liver function in chronic hepatitis B patients. |
