某醫院中英文指標系統建立案

Planning a Bilingual Directory System - The Example of One Hospital

本文期在中英文指標建立完成後，供該醫院各院區及其他同儕參考應用。方法為藉由台北市七家醫療院所之觀摩，做為標竿，實地了解醫院指標設立之優缺點，輔以收集文獻，明白指標設計之注意事項，同時彙集各單位提出之英文指標名稱，最後進行彙整，將所得運用在新設立之醫院指標系統規劃。經小組及專業人員討論、修正後，定立六類200個中英文對照指標名稱。最後建議指標的設立要實用與美觀並重、中文與英文並列、文字與圖形並具、各棟大樓指標應有系統性、大中小型指標系統之建立、避免名稱過長，通行文字可採縮寫。

The purpose of this project was to plan a bilingual (Chinese and English) directory and sign system for a new hospital. This project may serve as a reference for other hospitals. We visited seven hospitals in Taipei to evaluate their directory system and also analyzed review articles. In-depth discussions with members of various departments were held to elicit their suggestions. A list of 200 words in Chinese and English was developed to indicate various hospital locations. Bilingual directional signs should be attractive, accurate in both languages, of an appropriate size, and systematically planned. Abbreviations may be used if they are clearly understood.
