3C industry includes the business of electronics, computing and communication which have the characteristics of dynamic market demand, global manufacturing, low gross profit and short life-cycle so that an efficient logistics support is necessary. This paper gives a case study for the c-logistics of global 3C manufacturing company based on the strategic IS/IT planning perspective. The case company developed an e-logistics solution for their collaboration with the suppliers as well as the third-party logistics provider. This solution is implemented based on a methodology including the phases of business analysis, processes re-engineering, software development and performance evaluation. In it, the concept of Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) was well applied and then a web-based integrated software system was developed. Our analysis shows that the successes of the case company result mainly from the logistics model re-engineering and the enterprise information integration. This case study could be a reference mod el for the electronics manufacturing industry. |
