Few empirical studies have focused on the relationship between experiences of spousal violence and child abuse. There have been gander differences in the response of facing family violence. Therefore, the purpose of this study tried to find out whether child abuse was related to the experience of spousal violence varying by gander. The results of the study might contribute to child abuse literatures. The sample in this study consisted of 1, 182 students in the metropolitans of Taiwan with stratified random cluster sampling. In this study, canonical correlation was used to analyze the collected data. The major findings were as followings: (1) exposed to child abuse was related to the experience of spousal violence, but no gander effect; (2) different types of child abuse-varied by different styles of spousal violence; (3) youths who exposed more spousal violence had more experiences of serious abuse; (4) spousal violence might play an important role in the explanation of child abuse. Some suggestions were also provided in the study. |
