This research aims to examine students' learning difficulties in professional courses at the Department of Shipping and Transportation Management in Taiwan. Data collection was based on a questionnaire survey from six universities including National Kaohsiung Marine University, National Penghu University, Taipei College of Maritime Technology, National Taiwan Ocean University, Kainan University, and Chang Jung Christian University. Three course dimensions were identified based on students' requirements toward these professional courses. The evaluation weigh was established according to students' perceptions of learning difficulties. A Fuzz Multiple Criteria Decision Making method was used to assess the level of learning: difficulties in professional courses, and the relationships between the courses in senior high school and professional courses in the university. Implications from the research findings for the Department of Shipping and Transportation Management in the university on courses design and modification were discussed. |
