The purpose of this study is to explore the influence of the combination of college service-learning curriculum with the children's reading education activities in remote area. Besides, this study aims to figure out whether the arrangement of children's reading education activities on the basis of service-learning is obviously beneficial to the disadvantaged children's formation of reading habits through the interaction and conversation between college students and the disadvantaged children. According to the above-mentioned purposes, this study takes children from one elementary school in remote area in Chiayi County in Taiwan as study object and adopts surveying method. Related data and information are gathered right before and after the implementation of children's reading education activities.The study results are as follow:1. There is difference of children's reading habits, involvement and satisfaction due to different grade, sex and main educator of reading education activities between the pre-test and the post-test.2. Children have ”High involvement” and ”High satisfaction” about the reading education activities held by college students.3. The effect of the participation of reading education activities on children's reading habits, involvement and satisfaction reaches significant correlation.4. The reading habits of children in remote area did change positively and significantly. Based on the research findings, the additional benefit of the combination of college service-learning curriculum with the children's reading education activities in remote area do exist.In the end, based on the results of this study, some constructive suggestions are proposed for future college's planning of combination of student's major with the service-learning curriculum. |
