This study aimed to investigate the effects of 'Language Creative Thinking Program' on creativity and general competence of preschoolers. The program was based on L. A. Chen three phase of creative thinking teaching model, 'ATDE' creative thinking teaching model, and Williams's creative thinking teaching model. A quasi-experimental, nonequivalent control group design was employed. From two kindergartens in a district of Taipei, the subjects of this study were selected and divided into the experimental group and the control group. The experimental group consisted of 24 preschoolers participating in 12 instructions of 'Language Creative Thinking Program', while the control group consisted of 28 preschoolers participating in general courses.One assessment tool was conducted, which included the 'Test of SOI Intelligence for Preschoolers' developed by Dr. Lung-An Chen and Yi-Chun Hsieh. Quantitative data was analyzed by ANCOVA. The major findings of the study were concluded as follows: (1) The assessment results of the 'Test of SOI Intelligence for Preschoolers' in fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration, the experimental group performed significantly better than the control group. (2) The assessment results of the 'Test of SOI Intelligence for Preschoolers' In reading preparation, conceptual reading, and writing, the experimental group performed significantly better than the control group. (3) The research summarized a series of principles of Group Play Course to improve the creativity of preschoolers through 12 courses. |
