A cross-sectional survey with structured questionnaires, convenient sampling was implemented for this study. The study was conducted in a neurology ward of a medical center in southern Taiwan. One hundred and fifty-six primary caregivers of stroke patients, who met our inclusion criteria, were recruited in this study. The SPSS 15.0 for Windows was used for statistical analysis, including descriptive statistics, one-sample t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation test, and regression analysis. The results showed that the need for medical care related information was the highest score, followed by the need for medical service. Caregivers with older age, lower education level, and take care more dependent level of patients’ function of daily activity had greater caring need. Education level is a powerful predictor of caring needs for primary caregivers of stroke patients.
