There are an increasing number of job-related crimes in Chinese universities, that include: bribery, corruption and negligence of duties. Against such a background, this paper analyzes various issues from a psychological perspective, based on a survey of those criminals convicted of job-related crimes, as well as ordinary university staff. The survey findings have shown that: (1) The criminals and ordinary university staff differ in the following aspects: cognition, emotion and sentiment, the disciplinary inspection commission, and personality; (2) Gender, educational level, health status, and income level have a significant impact on the occurrence of crimes; and (3) Through the modeling of the psychological motivation of university job-related crimes, the major elements affecting job-related crimes include (in order according to the importance of the impact): the psychological process, external factors and personality Regarding the psychological process, cognition plays a decisive role in the decision to commit a crime. |
