Electrical Transport of Single Carbon Nanobelt along Long Axis

Carbon nanobelts have been massively produced using nanoporous anodic alumina as templates. Their length, width, and thickness are determined to be tens of micrometers, 470nm, and 5nm, respectively. Such high-aspect-ratio morphology can be regarded as a quasi 2D nanomaterial. The nano-electronic device with single nanobelt was developed by focused ion-beam deposition of two or four electrodes on it, and the electrical properties were studied by a multi-probe measurement system. The conductivity of a nanobelt after 800 C annealing is 145.3(Ω mm)-1 and shows one order of magnitude higher than that of as-prepared one. This carbon nanobelt-based device with large inner room can be utilized as a chemical sensor for detecting molecules adsorbed inside.
