Caries have become very popular problems in clinical dentistry. Artificial crown, mostly made by ceramics, was applied after endodontic treatment. This study was to investigate the effect of crown materials and bracket on the bonding strength. Shear bonding tests were performed to evaluate the shear strength and bonding stress while OPA-K and 3M brackets were attached to the natural tooth and ceramic crown. The results showed that OPA-K bracket bonded on ceramic crown had greater ability to endure shear force, due to its large base area. Both kinds of brackets bonded on ceramic crowns had greater shear bonding stress than natural tooth and no significant difference between both brackets. Cross-mesh base of the bracket (3M) could carry higher shear bonding stress than mesh base (OPA-K). |
