The purpose of this paper is to study how people pass their sensation image about pendants into forming design to express human’s abstract sensation through semantic conception to further find out the corresponding relationship between the semantic ideas recognized by people and forming factors so as to establish the forming rules of sensation design for pendants. This research includes four stages. Firstly, to set up the data matrix of all forms of pendant samples; by way of Hierarchical Cluster Analysis to pick out 35 representative samples for investigating the semantic conception of the pendants; and by using factor analysis to pick out 6 sets of representative semantic conception. Secondly, to divide the consumers into four groups by Hierarchical Cluster Analysis such as questionnaire attached with subjects about lifestyles, and applying analysis of variance to proceed the examination on every lifestyle question. While 78% of the investigated subjects reach the remarkable divergence, it proves to be effectively divided into one of the four groups. Thirdly, to apply quantification theory type I to find out the corresponding relationship between semantic conception and the essential forming factors of pendants, based on which to build up the rules of form design so as to further establish the effective rule of form design that matches the sensation image for each of the four groups. Finally, applying computer 3D graphics to imitate and create the pendants to further prove the accuracy of the form design rules. The establishment of form design rules provides a data bank with valuable reference form materials to help the designers when practically performing form design precisely convey consumers’ abstract conception through a concrete pattern of design language, which makes designing much more effective. |
