Appreciation education are prevailing in China during recent years, but it is challengedby many critics, especially the opponents who insist that punishment cannot be abolished ineducational practice (such view is called punishment education). The author examined thedisputed discourses of appreciation education and punishment education, and discussed thedifferent views about how to use the positive or negative teaching strategies to make studentsbetter. It comes to conclusion that teachers should be authorized to discipline their students upontheir professional knowledge. And such disputed discourses about how to appreciate students inChina can be taken into consideration when promoting the positive discipline environment andfriendly human rights campus in Taiwan nowadays. |
