方豪神父與民國天主教會

Fr. Maurus Fang Hao and the Catholic Church in Republican China

方豪神父（1910～1980）以其學者與教士的雙重身分，在民國天主教史上有不同於一般神父的特殊地位。他以大學教授的身分，從事傳教工作，向知識階層的傳教自然成為其中最重要的一環。一九三八至四一年主編《益世報》，一九四六至四八年主持上智編譯館及一九四九年至一九六○年從事臺大天主教同學會之輔導工作，均為具有代表性的事例。同時，他以言論宣揚公教中國化之功，更為其畢生職志所在。本文主旨即在闡明他在這方面對天主教會的貢獻。此外，對他與天主教領袖田耕莘樞機主、于斌樞機主教及徐誠斌主教間的關係，亦有所探討。

Fr. Maurus Fang Hao（1910-1980）,both status as a scholar and a priest, played a very special role in the history of Conterporary Chinese Catholic Church. As a university Professor, his Missionary career was mainly concentrated upon the works of cultural preaching to literate elite. This works included: edited the Yi Shi Bao (《益世報》) from 1938 to 1941, directed th ' shangzhi bianyi guan'(上智編譯館) from 1946 to 1948, and guided the Association of Catholic college students form 1949 to 1930. Meanwhile, his speechs about indigenization of Chinese Catholic Church were propagated the Church's contextualization movement. The purpose of this article is to clarify Father fang's contribution to the Chinese Catholic Father Fang and some church's leaders, such as : Cardinal bishop Thomas Tien (田耕莘), Cardinal bishop Paul Yu(于斌) and bishop Francis Hsu (徐誠斌).
