A Short History of Reading Public: Before the Rise of the National Literature

作為文學批評最重要的主題之一，文學讀者的問題被完整的歸納整理，從而標舉出來，應該是從大正文壇面臨崩解危機的一九二○年代中葉開始，相當於強調考察文學作為社會現象一部份的所謂外在批評論，取代了當時大正文壇對蹠面—以《新潮》合評會為代表的大正文壇專家式的印象批評此一時期。眾所周知，外在批評的提倡者是青野季吉，從側翼來加以支持的是片上伸。大正末年開啟讀者論的始作俑者正是這兩個人。

This is the anterior half of the Chinese translation of ”A Short History of Reading Public: Before the Rise of the National Literature” by the famous Japanese critic, Ai Maeda. Ai Maeda was born in Kannakawa county in 1931, and died in 1987. Ai Maeda has taught in Rikyo University of Tokyo for many years. Ai Maeda has established a multi-dimensioned scholarly world, he is devoted himself to pioneering many new issues such as urban literature, reading public, space theory those which are discussed twenty years after his death. This paper is a good example for how Japanese intellectuals made their culture discourse from their own cultural context through comparing with the western theory. Ai Maeda made a performance in many aspects not less more a literary critic who left many important issues to be discussed further today. All the notes is added by translator. (to be continued)
