After a decade of efforts on advocacy and several more years of fighting, restrictions on teachers' unionization right were abolished last year. Teachers at various levels stood out right away to form their own independent unions. It truly demonstrated the teacher's determination of self-recognition as a labor in education industry and was considered as an important milestone in labor right history of Taiwan. However, from legislative perspective, three labor rights of teachers' union have not fully secured. In fact, education sector has long been particularly unfamiliar with labor law system and teacher union's practices, resulting in increasing difficulties for teacher union operation. Thus, to strengthen professional dialogues as well as improve educational professions in action should be the key to teacher union's further development. |
